The next senator from New York, GOP Rep. Peter King, gave some very politically incorrect thoughts on the death of singer/dancer Michael Jackson.
Yes, Rep. King called the late Gloved One a pervert and a pedophile. OUCH!
But, the thrust of Rep. King's comments was the pathetic way that the media, all media, is covering this death.
Yes, it is sad. It also shows that Michael Jackson really was Elvis-like. That it may be that Mr. Jackson was a drug-addled man that may have not been able to make a comeback. That comeback was scheduled for London later this year.
But, let us be real. The coverage is beyond over the top. It is almost gruesome.
A gossip magazine called OK! is not all OK! It has the Michael Jackson death photo right on the cover of the latest issue. Yes, that is always what I would want my children to see as we are checking out at the supermarket.
What Rep. King was saying is that there are some real people out there. People who are serving in the armed forces. Firefighters, policemen, teachers, people working on the front lines of the AIDS epidemic. Real people that will never, ever get any coverage for doing good for the community and the world.
Now, Rep. King has every right to say what he said and how he said it. The reality is that he is speaking for a lot of Americans. I am one of them.
Living near Los Angeles, I know that there is going to be one hellacious freak show come this Tuesday. That is when there will be a public memorial service for the King of Pop. And, it is going to come with a hefty price tag. Los Angeles, already in a budget nightmare, will have to pay for police and other city workers to keep the peace. And with 1,600,000 people registering online for 17,000 tickets for the memorial service, oy vey!
We shall see Tuesday.
I for one want to thank Rep. King for speaking for a lot of Americans thinking. That the coverage is way, way too much.
Thank you again, Rep. King.

It's a shame people like this are even considered "leaders in our country." Regardless of your personal opinion Congressman (which have no facts to support them), have the decency to keep your comments to yourself while his family is mourning. hello he was accused not convicted. Michael Jackson and his family deserve that respect. i don't belive michael is any of that i believe he was just a famous and talented guy that someone just wanted money off of him by telling a lie. i guess it is hard to belive there are nice people in this world. i belive pete just wanted publicity. michael seemed like he was a sweet and really nice person who had hard times in his life like everyone else. try not to look at the bad about a person and focus on the good. when people wach the news do you look for something good or bad? yeah! soldiers die EVERYDAY!!!!!!! and we have been aknowleging that EVERYDAY FOR EIGHT LONG LONG YEARS!!!!!!!! michael jackson just died have some respect. he's done alot for the people he's conrtibuted to alot of charities he's touched alot of lives. pete king must be a pedophile hisself he's no perfect he's cheated on his wife. and since when did he care about celebrities isn't he supposed to be worried about his job. and it's not just the black community grieving it's all across the world. peter king is a prejudice A-Hole that has nothing else better to do than to focus on whats apparrent commenting on issues he knows nothing about. Was he there when these so called accusations were made against Michael Jackson? No ones life is picture perfect I'm quite sure if you start digging into mr. kings past and present we could make another video with all his skeletons dancing to A-holes life! i belive pete king is a racist. what goes around comes aroung you dog!. he was proved innocent i have never doubted michael i never thought the accusations were true.Get this Jerk out of congress and charge him with slander. Throw him in jail. I am sure he will enjoy it there.PETE KING What a creep.
Sir, Please don't quote scriptures from the Bible because you wouldn't know Jesus if He came up to you and stared you in the face. I can't believe how people call themselves Christians and in the same breath call themselves conservatives. Conservatives believe in money, not God. They believe in lying, not telling the truth. They believe in allowing people to die because they don't have money. They don't have compassion for the poor and the sick (like Jesus did). It's okay to cover an adducted "white" 10-year old girl or a kidnapped "white" daughter on spring vacation or anything that has to do with "white" America. But, start to cover a black man, and "oh - then why don't we cover the men and women dying overseas in the war," when you guys had 8 years to do that. But, why not cover the hunger, hungry starving people, (black and white) here in the US. Or not cover the in dying people (black and white) who lack health insurance and will die this year because of it. The reason why they cover Michael Jackson is painfully clear... He did a lot of good in the world, contributed to sick and the poor --- Just as Jesus did...But, man never learns. You people always reject what is good and righteous and you are jealous when it is not someone of your persuasion. Get over it. The US is no longer lilly white. It is mixed with a many, many races, cultures, and beliefs, and are no longer forced to believe in the conservative way of thinking. People think for themselves and see when someone is being witch hunted by angry, jealous "white" cops. Michael Jackson changed the lives for so many sick and dying young boys AND GIRLS. Your "white" media would like the world to think differently. But the truth is being told (which is what God wants us to do) and Rep. King can't stand it! God is still on the throne and the innocent has been vindicated. There will continue to be coverage on Michael Jackson because guess what, "decent and good white" people want it. The media is controlled by your almighty dollar. Deal with it!
It may be a bit much but leave it to a Republican to think he's above a jury's voting that someone is NOT GUILTY. Innocent until proven guilt, The Ameerican way obviously not the republican way!
You're both jerks
I think that comment from Senator King was inconsiderate. He was being insensitive to the family and those who are mourning the loss of Michael Jackson. The fact of the matter is Mike was not convicted of those charges. Peter King is not God, just wait to God judge him on judgment day for his wrongs.

Peter kings' skeletons are sreaming
for him to look at the man in the
mirror! Being human of course his
imperfection caused him to lash out
at the man who sung."The Man In The Mirror"!
King must worry about the day when he will have to give account
for every word he has ever used to kill the spirit of man.
The one fact that is being overlooked is that is was Jackson's family that turned his death in to a circus.
They could have had a quiet, dignified burial for him, but instead chose to use him one last time for their own selfish aggrandizement.
Although several of Rep. King's remarks were surely insensitive he was certainly correct when he said that Americans and the American media spend too much time lauding people who do not deserve it.
People who really contribute something valuable to society rarely receive plaudits from the population at large when they pass on. Something we should be collectively ashamed of.
Thank you Peter King, for your clear words
I cant believe the circus about M. Jackson. If we have no other problems!!!
Thank God!
