President Bush Speaking At Tony Snow's Funeral

Today, President Bush spoke at the funeral for the former White House Press Secretary, Tony Snow http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/07/20080717-1.html and this is President Bush at his best. Being the comforter-in-chief.

The following was directed at Mr. Snow's children:

For Robbie, Kendall, and Kristi, you are in our thoughts and prayers, as well. We thank you for sharing your dad with us. He talked about you all the time. He wanted nothing more than your happiness and success. You know, I used to call Tony on the weekends to get his advice. And invariably, I found him with you on the soccer field, or at a swim meet, or helping with your homework. He loved you a lot. Today I hope you know that we loved him a lot, too.

Since the funeral was private, this is only third hand information, but according to people who were there it was a very touching moment for Mr. Snow's wife, Jill and the children.
Again, this is when President Bush shows his humanity. No politics. No lighting, making sure everything is correct or anything that does not show George W. Bush speaking to people who are grieving. And giving comfort and a sense that all that Mr. Snow was about to people who may have not known him all that well.
This is the kind of moment that I am proud that George W. Bush is the president of the United States.
Whether it is Sen. Messiah Barack or Sen. John "F--- You" McCain in the Oval Office this time next year, I hope that we will see their humanity the way that we have seen in President Bush.

WOW...thank you for posting this, I had no idea that the President spoke at Tony's funeral. I agree that Bush is at his best when he is the comforter in cheif. He really does know how to connect if given the opportunity. Too bad the media is the biggest obstacle for him in that area. :)N

Hopefully, like Reagan before him, Bush will be remembered for the good he did, and, like Reagan, all the vitriol will be forgotten by most.
