OMG! Can it be that former great Boston Red Sox pitcher, Curt Schilling, may go for broke and make a run for the Kennedy senate seat in Massachusetts?
If it is true that GOP muckity mucks, the few that there are in the Bay State, are asking Mr. Schilling to run in the special election on January 19, 2010, this is great news.
The stars are all but aligning perfectly for Mr. Schilling to make a run for the seat and even win outright.
The governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, is very unpopular. Incumbents are very unpopular. Even Democrats in this state may be ready for a change. And with that, Mr. Schilling can run as someone with common sense and not being a professional politician.
Is Mr. Schilling a conservative? Well, go read his blog and you tell me if he does not fit the bill.
What Mr. Schilling can do that no other politician can do in Massachusetts is rejuvenate a moribund Republican party. A win in the Kennedy senate seat would be on the level of Ronald Reagan being elected California governor in 1966.
Sometimes it is an outsider that has to get into the arena and clean the house. And that role Mr. Schilling would do well.
As a Dodger fan to a Red Sox great, RUN CURT, RUN!
