Big Win For The GOP

Tonight, the voters in New Orleans have spoken and said enough is enough and voted out the indicted incumbent Democrat congressman William "Big Bucks" Jefferson and elected the first Vietnamese-American and Republican Joseph Cao.
It is the second bit of good news for the Republicans in week on top of the big win by Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss this past Tuesday.
And it maybe the harbinger of things to come for the Democrats.
Remember folks, they now run the show. The White House on January 20, 2009 and congress now.
No more George W. Bush to kick around. No more Republicans to blame for all that goes wrong. Neither will be able to be blamed for a moribund economy. A foreign policy crisis. And, for corruption that will follow the Dems into the halls of power.
Of course it seems to go hand in hand that corruption=Democrats. Of course the Republicans took some lessons from the Democrats the last several years. And, that is why they got their hat handed to them in their hands. And they deserved it!
It is what was one of the leading reasons that led to the Republicans taking control of congress in 1994. Corruption.
Lets see now how the Dems will handle this issue now that they run the show. Except for a big win in Louisiana.
Here are the results from the election:

U.S. House - District 2 - General
Louisiana - 492 of 492 Precincts Reporting - 100%
Name Party Votes Vote %
Cao , Joseph GOP 33,122 50%
Jefferson , William (i) Dem 31,296 47%
Rahim , Malik Grn 1,880 3%
Kahn , Gregory Lib 548 1%

But what about OH-15?

Now it's official: Mary Jo Kilroy will be going to Washington as the first Democrat to represent any part of Franklin County in Congress in a generation.

My emphasis.

Win some, lose some. It's OK if, in the end, you win more than you lose.

Interesting that two of the bright stars of the GOP right now are two Asian-Americans from Louisiana, both very faithful Catholics by the way.

Yes, freidmsw and Mr. Pat, did not see that result on the fronta page of any newspapers, did you?

Mr. Snarkle, very good point. I give that one to you! In reality, it is amazing that President-elect Obama did not run away in Ohio and that the Republicans did not lose more seats. But, the Republican party will have taken two House seats in Louisiana and maintained the senate seat from Georgia. Better than expected results.

Very good point, Richard, about the fact that two of the most sucessful GOP politcians are Asian American, from Louisiana and very faithful Roman Catholics.

Oy, such tripe. Why not just say, "Yes, you kicked my ass and stomped my neck; you gouged my eyes and cuffed both ears; you dope-slapped me silly until I could stand no more; but I didn't choke on my own vomit, and several teeth remain intact, though wobbly."

Several states trended away from Obama last month, including Louisiana and Oklahoma.

I believe if you look at places that bucked the trend, you'll find they're home to proportions of overweight and undereducated folks that exceed the national average.

As for forced-to-runoff-Saxby (was supposed to be a safe seat) - it's the last waltz, or if not the last, then one of the last.

Enjoy the dance.

Mr. Snarkle, you are very pathetic. You spend so much of your time trolling conversative blogs, write your comments and then can not even take when an author of a blog gives you a point. Unlike you, being a Republican I do know a little something about the Ohio GOP and it is in a shambles. When a state party is in such a state, it follows that there is an inability to be able to keep seats that in many a year would be easy for them to win. You are free to come, write what you want but do not expect that I will show you any respect that you clearly do not deserve.

Wow, touchy.

In a 24-hour day, I spend anywhere from 14 to 18 of them awake.

Of my awake time, I'm probably online anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. Sometimes it's zero.

Of all the wingnut blogs out there, and they seem to breed like rats, I drop by anywhere from 0 to 5. Your little nook, for whatever reason, is the wingnut blog I find myself at most often.

You've got sitemeter? How much time do I spend here in a week?

Really, dude, if you want to get all wiggy because I counter your talking points, be my guest.

But, seriously, do you think you're in any position to give anything? A little humility might suit you better.

What is it about wingnuts and thin skin?
