Can A Republican Be The Dear Leader's Next Congressman?

Oh, the irony! That the good people of Hawai'i's first congressional district may have just enough to elect a Republican to fill the seat of former congressman Neil Abercrombrie. Mr. Abercrombie resigned the safe, very Democrat seat to run for governor.
Because of the way special elections are held in Hawai'i, who ever has the most votes wins. No 50% plus one. No runoff. Winner takes the seat.
Because there are two Democrats running for the seat-and neither lives in the Hawai'i first congressional district-this gives the Republican candidate, Charles Djou, a shot of becoming. . .the Dear Leader, President Obama's congressman.
HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
Now, to be fair, the Dear Leader, President Obama, has not lived in Hawai'i in years. But, it was in the first district that he grew up. And in a sense he does call it home.
But the problem is that because there are two Democrats running for this seat, that splits the vote and could see Mr. Djou elected with as little as 35% of the total vote.
The two Democrat candidates are Ed Case and Colleen Hanabusa.
The polling has shown Mr. Djou marginally ahead of Mr. Case, who would appear to be the stronger of the two Democrat candidates. The most recent poll conducted by the Democrats show a dead heat between Mr. Djou and Mr. Case.
And it is not like this district has not had a Republican serve in congress before. The last Republican to represent this district was Patricia Saiki who last won in 1988.
Mr. Djou is currently a member of the Honolulu city council in his second term. He attended the same private school as the Dear Leader, President Obama, the Punahou School. And he went on to earn a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. No, not Penn State (nothing negative about Penn State), but U of P-an Ivy League school.
Mr. Djou would make a great addition to congress. And he will have taken a safe Democrat seat to boot.
If you want to help Mr. Djou out with some cash, donate to his Money Wave-it is Hawai'i after all-tomorrow.
A Republican congressman from the home town of the Dear Leader, President Obama. . .I love it!

The Insipid Cardinal

No, I do not mean any member of the St. Louis Cardinals. Or the Arizona Cardinals for that matter.
I am referring to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles, Cardinal Roger Baloney. Yea, that's right, Cardinal Baloney!
It appears that the cardinal, enabler of child molesting priests, has opened his yap on the Arizona legislature doing what the congress and president can not do.
Take control of the border between Arizona and Mexico.
Cardinal Baloney compared the legislation to "German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques."
Oh boy, how rich coming from this guy, Cardinal Baloney!
One of the reasons I think the dear cardinal is so hot on legalizing illegal aliens is simple.
To expand the flock.
Thanks to his incompetence, the Roman Catholic church in Los Angeles is in decline. The number of priest and nuns are following the flock right out the door. Then there is the cardinal's role in covering up many a molesting priest. For that, Cardinal Baloney should step down. But he won't. He will rail against what he sees as an inhumane policy that Arizona is about to embark on. And this is not the first time the insipid cardinal has spoken out against immigration laws that are about enforcement first, every thing else second.
But to compare the legislation to what the Communists and Nazis did at the height of their tyranny is ridiculous.
Because there are too many in congress that want to declare amnesty and "legitimize" millions of illegal aliens, nothing can be done to actually see some enforcement of the current laws on the books. Thus, Arizona is forced to do something.
Time will tell if Gov. Jan Brewer will sign the legislation. And if Gov. Brewer does, will it really be all that draconian or not.
Hey, Cardinal Baloney. Do the rest of us a favor.
One, pray to God Almighty for your soul. Work on saving souls for Jesus. And stay out of matters you know little about.

The Dear Leader Being Heckled By Crazy Right Wingers In California

OOPS! I am sorry. The headline is a bit wrong.
The Dear Leader, President Obama was in California this evening. He was attending a fund-raiser for embattled California Sen. Ma'am Boxer. And he did speak. And he was heckled.
But it was not by some crazy right-wing infiltrators.
No, it was by gay rights activists upset with the Dear Leader, President Obama, for not overturning the "don't ask, don't tell" policy within the armed forces.
To these folks, the Dear Leader, President Obama is a real disappointment. He did not overturn the policy adopted in the Clinton years-boy do those look OK today!-that allowed homosexuals to serve in the armed forces without telling they were homosexuals. And they would not be asked.
Somehow, these people did not get the memo.
You know, the one about all the Dear Leader, President Obama's promises having an expiration date. OK, technically, this does not fall in the expiration date category. Yet. Since the administration is doing a year-long "study" about the effects of eliminating this compromise policy and letting open, active homosexuals serve in the armed forces.
Anyhow, I am glad that those right-wing crazies, er, left-wing crazies, did not make the Dear Leader look bad. I am sure he does fine on his own. Without any assist from his side.
And for a highilght, here is video, courtesy of HotAir.

Amatuer Hour At The White House

Will Obama Return $994,795 In Goldman Sachs Campaign Contributions?

Headline from The Drudge Report.

A real question should be when will the Dear Leader, President Obama, fire the Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner?
After all, Mr Geithner was from the vaunted investment firm. Then again, so was the last Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson.
Which really leads to the question.
Who is really in charge in this White House?
How did Timmy Geithner get his job in the first place? Was there any real vetting going on for any of those in the present administration?
I do not have the answers, but I do think these are worth while questions that do deserve some answers.

Reason 9,125,427 Why The Left Angeles Times Is A Waste Of Time

Before continuing this post, I must be honest.
The Left Angeles Times is not a complete waste of time. After all, there is the Sunday coupons. And some decent sports writing on occasion. And it makes a great fish wrapping. But, by and large, the Left Angeles Times is becoming more and more irrelevant.
Here is reason number 9,125,427.
Today's column by resident Libertard Tim Rutten.
Yea, that's right, I am calling out Mr. Rutten as the Libertard that he is.
In this epic column, Mr. Rutten cites an "exhaustive" poll conducted by the fellow travellers of "journalism" in the United States, The New York Times.
Oh, but please read Mr. Rutten citing this as "journalism" and "fact".
Let me write here and now this.
A poll is but a snapshot in time of that moment. It is and can be manipulated to cite anything the pollster and those that may be financing the pollster want it to say. And, in this case, it is but one, count it, one poll that Mr. Rutten cites as wonderful "journalism" and "fact". And it is a poll of 1,518 people. Not exactly a lot of those that are active in or attending Tea Party rallies across the United States.
What Mr. Rutten should be doing is the actual anecdotal reporting that he seems to not think is "fact". If Mr. Rutten would get off his fat rump and go to a rally, he would find a lot a diverse people. All kinds of people. And some may even be, DA HORROR!, Democrats! What is unifying these diverse people is a mistrust of government in general, the federal government in particular, and a political class that does not seem to give a damn about the people they claim to represent.
Mr. Rutten cites the poll, this one poll, that only 18% of those polled are Tea Party supporters.
I need to stop to point out that there is no "Tea Party" as such. It is a catch-all phrase that many of us use to describe those who oppose the power grab of the Dear Leader, President Obama, and the Democrat party. But, the Obamawhore media likes it's listeners, readers and watchers to believe there is a "Tea Party" that is distinct and different from the Democrat and or Republican parties.
Back to point.
Worse in Mr. Rutten's world is that these people are highly educated. Which busts the myth of the Obamawhore media that the Tea Party supporters are rubes and yayhoos. Many supporters have college degrees. Are higher income earners. But one has to go down further in the actual article to read this :

Nearly 9 in 10 disapprove of the job Mr. Obama is doing over all, and about the same percentage fault his handling of major issues: health care, the economy and the federal budget deficit. Ninety-two percent believe Mr. Obama is moving the country toward socialism, an opinion shared by more than half of the general public.

In other words, the Tea Party people are more intense, but right along the majority of Americans in multiple polling data that there is a real fear that the Dear Leader, President Obama, is moving the United States in a socialist direction like that found in Europe.
What really bothers Mr. Rutten is that the Tea Party movement is beginning to gel into a legitimate organization in some respect. Mr. Rutten cites a Republican firm, Russo, Marsh and Rogers and their political group Our Country Deserves Better as being a major source of funding for the more organized aspect of the Tea Party movement.
How terrible! That these people are organizing and even worse, it is a Republican political group that is doing some of the organizing.
I guess in Mr. Rutten's world, Organizing For America, the Dear Leader, President Obama's front group is A-OK. It is but a shill for the president and the Democrat party. Where is the outrage there, Mr. Rutten?! Or what about the Service Employees International Union and the thugs that they have sent to Tea Party rallies to intimidate opposition to the Dear Leader, President Obama? I know because I have seen these people at three different Tea Party rallies that I have attended.
See, what really gets under Mr. Rutten's collar is that there is real opposition to the Dear Leader, President Obama, and his policies. Yes, the Tea Party movement, and it is a movement, started last year because of one man, Rick Santelli, and his rant on a little-watched cable network of NBC-no not MSNBC, but CNBC. And last year it was very loosely organized. A lot of word-of-mouth is what got many of us to stage a protest across this Great Land on April 15, 2009. Now there are those that realize it is time to get ready for the upcoming midterm elections. And yes, that means organization.
Also, another thought occurred as I am writing this.
I am certain that if there was polling done during such historical events as Women's Suffrage or the civil rights movement, a minority of people would have been open about their support of these movements.
Really Mr. Rutten, were you bored or lazy when you wrote this screed? Because it is not based in anything but a poll. One freaking poll of a little over 1,500 people.
One wonders why the Left Angeles Times continues in the downward spiral. It is because of dreck columns written by such Obamawhores as Tim Rutten.

Real Hope And Change Potential On Tax Day

OK, there are less than two hours left of Tax Day, April 15, as of this posting.
If you are anything like your humble blogger, you wait until the bitter end to file because you know that you will be paying through the nose to Uncle Sam and any state that requires one to pay income tax. And, of course, I and Mrs. Right View From The Left Coast are doing just that.
Too bad that the feds do not count a dog as a deduction.
Oh well.
After you have attended a Tea Party and paid your money to the government, do not turn inward on your righteous frustration.
Take heart in the fact that all the polling data out there shows this to be a stellar year for the Republicans to not only take back the House of Representatives, but more than likely the senate as well.
To buck you up, this analysis by Sean Trende over at Real Clear Politics shows something that I never even would venture to think in all seriousness.
That the Republicans could gain 100 seats in the House.
100 freaking seats!
That would be an absolute political earthquake. Kind of a 9.5 on the political Richter scale.
But one of the reasons I tend to agree with this potential is the absolute frustration that the American people are feeling to the political class in general, and Democrats in particular.
One of the buzz terms the Democrats are using to try to deflect from their own shortcomings is that there is an "anti incumbent" mood in the Heartland.
Eh, who is the incumbent political party that controls Washington, D. C. today? Here is a hint. The logo is a Jackass. No, not the House Speaker, Jackass Nancy Pelosi. But the logo of the D E M O C R A T party. But you see the trickery here is trying to spread around the pain that the Democrats will feel in November. That people do not like Republicans any more than Democrats.
That is the last gasp of a party that knows that they are in for a real butt kicking in November.
And do not let the Florida congressional special election change that reality. The former congressman, Democrat Robert Wexler, ran better percentage wise in 2008 than the winner, Ted Deutch, did in the special election.
The real special election to look for is the one in the Pennsylvania 12th congressional district. This seat was held by the late John Murtha. He held the seat for 36 years with an iron grip and pork that makes Sen. Robert Grand Keagle Byrd (D-WV) blush. But it appears that this seat is ripe for the picking for the Republicans. And the good news is that Republican Tim Burns is leading Democrat Mark Critz in an internal poll. And Mr. Burns will have the Big Mo' going his way into the special election next month.
Unless there is a total turnaround in the economy between now and November, the Democrat party future in control of congress, the majority of governor's offices and state legislatures is looking bleak.
And that is real Hope and Change. Hope and Change that there will be a change of direction next Tax Day.

Poizner Poized For Big Upset

In the Republican race for governor of the once Golden State of California, one should think that Meg Whitman of E-bay fame should win in a cake walk. I mean, the polling data, such as it is, shows her in a commanding lead over the state Insurance Commissioner, Steve Poizner.
But Mrs. Whitman has had to spend upwards of $70,000,000 dollars-yes $70,000,000 dollars-just to get this far in the Republican primary. Mr. Poizner is taking a more traditional route of waiting to unload close to the June primary. And again, while there is little reliable polling, it seems to be working.
The issues that Mr. Poizner is front loading are that taxes are too high. Mr. Poizner wants an across the board tax cut while Mrs. Whitman wants what she refers to as "targeted" tax cuts. Sounds kind of like favoring one group over another. Almost like a Democrat. The second is that the state can not afford continuing to pay for the federal government not taking responsibility regarding illegal immigration.
Most important is that Mr. Poizner is out front in saying what a Republican candidate should be saying. That elect him, it will not be a third Benedict Arnold term.
As I have noted in earlier posts, whoever wins the Republican nod has to run against the so-called Republican governor. And it looks like Mr. Poizner will do so.
Let me be blunt.
Neither of the candidates is the kind of conservative I would like, but Mr. Poizner is closer than Mrs. Whitman. And that is why I will vote for Mr. Poizner in June.
Californians do not like any perception of someone so blatantly buying a political office. And Mrs. Whitman has been doing just that. Again, Mr. Poizner is taking a more traditional route.
The poll numbers will move more in Mr. Poizner's direction as he continues to pound the defects in Mrs. Whitman and her campaign.
I think that Steve Poizner is in for a big upset and will be the Republican nominee for governor in California. Hopefully the Whitman supporters will rally and realize that the real enemy is Democrat retread former governor and current Attorney General Jerry Brown.

Another Reason It Is The Obamawhore Media

When one reads the two main newsweekly magazines, Newsweek and Time, it seems that one is reading, oh I don't know, the talking points from the Dear Leader, President Obama's administration or the Democrat leadership in congress.
Take this little ditty by Jay Newton-Small in the latest issue of Time magazine.
The article gives five "reasons" why 2010 may not be all that bad for the Democrat party in the mid-term election.
Let's deconstruct these "reasons" one by one.

1. Michael Steele
Yea, I know, he is a kind of distraction even to those of us that supported him. And in this blogger's case, still do. But come on. Does anyone really believe that people are going to base their vote one way or the other on who is the chair of the Republican National Committee? No, I do not think so. I would like to see Mr. Steele allocate the funds a lot better than it appears he has, but at the end of the day, he will not be an issue. Especially when one considers the corrupt members of congress on the Democrat side. Anyone want to talk Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY)? Yea, try getting people worked up over an unelected party official.

2. Fundraising

Again, a non-issue. Why? Because the Republicans were out fund raised in 1994 as well. Money can not replace enthusiasm. Also, the Democrats are losing independent voters by some rather large numbers.

3. Tea Parties

The Tea Parties only help the Republican party, not hurt. So what Mr. Newton-Small is saying is because some of the same Republican establishment that has always had it out for Mr. Steele does not like that there are some races for party nomination for various offices. It shows that there is a lot of enthusiasm for Republicans to run for office. The more candidates, the better. It only helps the winner be able to wage a competent campaign against Democrat opponent. And Mr. Newton-Small's assertion that Doug Hoffman hurt the infamous New York state 23rd congressional race is insipid at best. Remember, the vaunted Republican county chairs put up liberal "Republican" Dede Scozzafava. Doug Hoffman ran on the Conservative Party line and almost pulled off the win. Mrs. Scozzafava ended up endorsing the current Democrat congressman, Bill Owen. And he voted for the so-called health care "reform" scam when he ran as being very skeptical at best.

4. Who's the Leader?

It is not a relevant question. Just because former House Speaker Newt Gingrich emerged as a leader in 1994, he was not the only one. He was the most vocal. And the Contract With America was introduced quite late in the campaign season. Again, there does not need to be one leader but a party that is on the same message. That is what won the day in 1994 for the Republicans. Not some leader.

5. Legislative Wins

This is the biggest laugh of the "analysis" of Mr. Newton-Small. It is because of the so-called "victories" that people out of the Beltway are upset. A so-called economic "stimulus" that has proven to be a cash-cow to the Democrat party and their allies. Note that unemployment is still at 9.7%. And the health-care vote is what is most polarizing. Again, this is why the Dear Leader, President Obama, and the Democrat party is tanking. Since Jackass Nancy Pelosi said the infamous "we have to pass the bill so that you can see whats in it", people have done just that. And most do not like what they have seen. The more it continues to fester, the worse it is for the Democrats.

And of course there is the theme that people will forget all the negative stuff by November and the Democrat losses will be minimal at worst.
Wishful thinking.
The people are going to turn more against the Democrats if they do indeed push for so-called "comprehensive immigration reform", any measures on Globaloney Warming.
This whole article by Mr. Newton-Small is nothing more than shilling for the Dear Leader, President Obama, and the Democrats in general. He needs to read more polls. Needs to realize that the people are looking for anyone but the Democrats at this point. And that is why the gains the Republicans will make in November will make this article one for the laugh file.

Opening Day-The Best Day Of The Year!

UPDATE: Well, my Dodgers apparently made the Pittsburgh Pirates look really good in losing to them today, 11-5. Vicente Padilla lasted a rip-roaring 4 1/3 innings. Hmm, maybe this is hopeless and change?!

Today is Opening Day in major league baseball and the best time of the year.
It is the time that winter says goodbye and spring brings hope to all-even the Washington Nationals.
In less than two hours, my beloved Los Angeles Dodgers begin their quest for another National League Western Division title against the increasingly hapless Pittsburgh Pirates.
If the rain stops by 7pm Pacific time, the Anaheim Angels* will also begin their quest to repeat as American League Western Division champs.
Ahh, all teams start the same but within the next couple of months, we will separate the pretenders from the contenders.
Here is to a great 2010 baseball season. And once again, my wish that we will see a real Freeway Series-in October-between the Anaheim Angels* and Los Angeles Dodgers.

*This blog will NEVER refer to the Angels as the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim"!

HAPPY EASTER!

The Lord is risen!

The Lord is risen, indeed! Alleluia!
Today is Easter or Resurrection Sunday, the day that Jesus Christ appeared to His disciples and fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies.
For Christians, it is the holiest day on the calendar. Yes, Christmas gets all the publicity and it is important. But this is the reason that Christians believe in what we do. That with God, all things are possible. That a man can be born of a virgin, die on a tree and three days later come back to life.
Yes, it is something that can not be logically explained. But it is all about having a faith to believe such things. At some point in all of our lives, I believe, God will make it all clear to us.
In the meantime, I leave you with this from the New Testament:
Christ is risen from the dead,
and become the first fruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death,
by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
I Corinthians 15: 20
May this be a blessed, Happy Easter to all!

Are We Fighting The Left Or Liberals?

When the Dear Leader, President Obama, ran for the presidency, he presented himself as a relatively moderate fellow. He kept emphasizing that he was a tax cutter. Remember the "95% of Americans will get a tax cut" mantra? Then Sen. Messiah Barack talked about having better relations with the other nations of the world.
But a funny thing happened along the way.
Sen. Messiah Barack was elected president and the mask of moderation fell off faster than an anvil dropping from the sky.
Issue after issue, the Dear Leader took a definite left-wing position.
And forced his party, the Democrat party, further to the left.
The current crown achievement was the passage of the so-called health care "reform" scam.
So what happened to the Democrat party of the 90s that emphasized welfare reform and a pro-business liberalism to the current state of the party?
Simple.
The party has been taken over by it's left-wing and left traditional liberals in the dust.
The leaders of the party are the Dear Leader, President Obama, the Speaker of the House, Jackass Nancy Pelosi and the Senate Majority Leader Dingy Harry Reid.
These leaders have forced the traditional liberal wing of the party to take votes that would seem to go against their natural tendencies. No one within the party wants to take on the Trifecta of the Left leadership.
What the current leadership of the Democrat party speaks of and wants to govern as is more government involvement in many aspects of every day life of the American people. The so-called health care "reform" scam will be something that will evolve over time. And as Jackass Nancy Pelosi said, we have to pass the bill to see what is in it. And that seems to be the way these people want to govern.
Thus, radio talk show host Dennis Prager hits is right on the head. Today's Democrat party is no longer the Democrat party, but a Social Democrat party similar to the Labour party in Great Britain and the Social Democrat parties of the European continent. Thus the last liberal Democrat to be president was John F. Kennedy. And to a lesser extent, Bill Clinton.
The leading liberal in the Democrat party is Sen. Joe Lieberman (Independent Democrat-Conn.) and he is becoming a lonely voice.
Thus, those of us that are conservatives and or centrists are fighting a left-wing Democrat party. Not just a liberal party. It is a party that is practicing the old divide and conquer approach to governing. Old and young against each other. Christians and non-Christians against each other, rich and poor against each other and so on.
What the left-wing dominance of the Democrat party has done is make it annoy the majority of Americans. Thus the Dear Leader, President Obama and his fellow travelers are seeing their numbers tank as the people are seeing them for what they are.
So, I think Dennis Prager is right. We are fighting the left and the party that was once the Democrat party is now the Social Democrat party. And it is a fight that will continue for a long time.

Thoughts About Good Friday

Today begins the holy weekend that culminates on Sunday. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, or Easter.
The Anglican archbishop of Sydney, Australia, said that Atheists are believers alright. Believers that hate God. Now that maybe a little harsh, but it is accurate. The Right Reverend Peter Jensen is spot on with this comment:

"Atheism is every bit of a religious commitment as Christianity itself.

"It represents the latest version of the human assault on God, born out of resentment that we do not in fact rule the world and that God calls on us to submit our lives to him.

"It is a form of idolatry in which we worship ourselves."

Exactly.
While this is clearly a hard-hitting sermon that Dr. Jensen delivered on Good Friday, the day Jesus Christ was crucified by those that turned against him, it makes me think about the Anglican/Episcopal Good Friday liturgy.
Today we pray for a lot of things. But there is a part of the Solemn Collects (prayers) that always strikes me this time of year. Here is the following:

Let us pray for all who have not received the Gospel of Christ;
For those who have never heard the word of salvation

For those who have lost their faith
For those hardened by sin or indifference
For the contemptuous and the scornful
For those who are enemies of the cross of Christ and persecutors of his disciples
For those who in the name of Christ have persecuted others

That God will open their hearts to the truth, and lead them to faith and obedience.

Today there are many, many people that have not heard the word of salvation or the Gospel of Christ. A lot of it I believe is this whole thought that we people can do it better ourselves. We do not need to believe in something and someone greater than ourselves. Yet all this thinking has not really made our lives better.
I also think about the many people I know that have lost their faith. My heart goes to them. I can only hope that they would come back to the fold.
The striking dichotomy is the last two lines. The ones about being persecuted and persecuting in the name of Christ. There is a lot of truth in that. We have been led astray by what we have done in the name of Jesus to many. We have not shared the Gospel as we have at times imposed the Gospel. I think that a lot of that is how we have come over the ages to understand Jesus and our relationship with him.
Here is the thing.
Faith is not science. It is believing in what is really impossible. It is not perfect. I have heard this many times. That one should have a child-like faith in God. Imagine that. A child-like faith instead of disgruntled disbelief.
Tonight at Good Friday services, I will pray for those that reject the Gospel. And those that have not heard the Gospel. And for those that will turn their lives to Jesus Christ. After all, that is the reason that he died for us today.

Another Democrat Bright Light

Meet congressman Hank Johnson.
He the the Democrat representative from the fourth congressional district in Georgia. This is the district that was once represented by a former welfare gal, Cynthia McKinney. Actually, Rep. Johnson defeated Miss McKinney in the 2006 Democrat primary. And because this is a gerrymandered district, Rep. Johnson went on to victory that November and has been there ever since.
Well, Rep. Johnson has a very serious concern.
It appears that Rep. Johnson is worried about the the Marine Corps plan to house 5,000 marines and their families on the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.
What worries this congressman.
I kid you not, but that the island, 212 square miles, may "tip and capsize" due to the extra population.
Watch the video that I linked over at Hotair. But, if you want to read the exchange between Rep. Johnson and Adm. Robert Willard, head of the United States Pacific Fleet:

REP. JOHNSON: Now, this is an island that at its widest level is, what, 12 miles from shore to shore and at its smallest level, smallest location it's seven miles between one shore and the other. Is that correct?
ADM. WILLARD: I don't have the exact dimensions, but to your point, sir, I think Guam is a small island.
REP. JOHNSON: Very small island and about 24 miles, if I recall, long, 24 miles long, about seven miles wide at the least widest place on the island and about 12 miles wide on the widest part of the island. And I don't know how many square miles that is. Do you happen to know?
ADM. WILLARD: I don't have that figure with me, sir. I can certainly supply it to you if you'd like.
REP. JOHNSON: My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.
ADM. WILLARD: We don't anticipate that. The Guam population, I think, currently about 175,000 and again with 8,000 Marines and their families, it's an addition of about 25,000 more into the population.
REP. JOHNSON: And also things like the environment, the sensitive areas of the environment, coral reefs and those kinds of things.
And I know that lots of people don't like to think about that, but we didn't think about global warming either and now we do have to think about it.
And so I'm concerned from an environmental standpoint whether or not Guam is the best place to do this relocation. But it's actually the only place. Is that correct?
ADM. WILLARD: This is the best place. This is the farthest west U.S. territory that we own and this is part of our nation in readdressing the forward presence and posture importance to Pacific Command. Guam is vital to this decision.

Eh, OK, Ace!
Now it has been revealed that Rep. Johnson has hepatitis C, which apparently has the potential to affect the brain. And over at National Review, Jonah Goldberg believes the good, sick congressman that he was shooting for a metaphor. Well, he shot and he missed. Very wide miss, wouldn't you say folks?
Actually, I am very offended that a member of congress seems to believe that he should be a member of the body when he has a medical condition that has such a effect on his or her mental capacity.
No Rep. Johnson, you should resign your seat and let some one you can do the job to the fullest of their capacities be there.
See I think Rep. Johnson is emblematic of what is wrong with the political class.
That they feel entitled to do whatever they please even when someone like Hank Johnson comes off sounding like a buffoon.
I do sympathize with his condition. But not the fact he is running for reelection as the poster child for living with hepatitis C.
Rep. Johnson was in the middle of a serious hearing and there was not a sound of a metaphor. It was the sound of someone that believed what he was saying. That Guam could "tip and capsize" if any more people were put there as planned by the Marine Corps.
No, Rep. Johnson gets absolutely no pass here. Illness or not, the man is a nit wit. He needs to resign.
Exit question.
What is in the water in the Georgia forth congressional district? First there was Cynthia McKinney and now Hank Johnson? Oh well, better them than the rest of us!
