The Alabama Crimson Tide spanked the Texas Longhorns, 37-21 the Bowl Conspiracy, er Championship Series championship game tonight in the beautiful Pasadena Rose Bowl.
It was a close game midway through the fourth quarter when the Brokenhorns came close, 24-21.
Then the Tide blew the game open with running back Mark Ingram busting in for a touchdown. It was after linebacker Eryk Anders forced Brokenhorns back-up quarterback Garrett Gilbert to cough up the ball back on his own 17 yard-line.
And the rest was history.
Mr. Gilbert came into the game for injured starter Colt McCoy who watched an absolutely gutsy performance from the freshman QB. But, the Cinderella finish was not to be had.
And, those who hated Brit Hume and his comments about Tiger Woods will not like the fact that while visibly upset, Mr. McCoy did not blame any one. He gave glory to-GASP!-G O D! A very classy young man.
It was a great struggle between two great teams.
And a lot is written about how this BSC basically sucks, and it does. But this game makes one forget how bad the BCS formula is. In the end, despite the BCS, the two best teams played for all the marbles. And the best team won.
ROLL TIDE, ROLL!
