NEVER FORGET

Today is Patriot Day, September 11, 2008. It is the seventh anniversary of the terror attacks of 9/11/01. It is a day to put aside all politics and divisiveness and unite in our efforts to defeat those who perpetuated these evil acts.
Nearly 3,000 people died in New York City, Washington D. C. and in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Those in Shanksville who died were in an airplane, flight United 93. The passengers in that plane knew that things were amiss and decided to stop the terrorists who were trying to fly that plane into a building in Washington, D. C. A possible target may have been the Capitol building or even the White House.
Today, let us remember those that died not only on 9/11, but those who have volunteered to take the fight to the front line. Those that are serving in the armed forces. That includes one of Sen. Joe Biden's sons and the oldest son of Gov. Sarah Palin, being deployed today.
May God Bless America.

Nikki, your comment made me think that perhaps it's one of those hard to see blessings that this day will always come right in the middle of our election seasons. It will always make us stop and think and grieve together. At least for one day we can put aside the debate and take a breath as Americans, then continue the great experiment.
