Nick Adenhart, 1986-2009

Last night, Anaheim Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in an auto accident caused by a suspected drunk driver who had already been convicted and was driving on a suspended license.
Nick was only 22 years old.
Nick was the starting pitcher in last night's game against the Oakland A's and he had a great outing pitching six scoreless innings.
But, none of that matters today.
Today, we think about the fragility of life and how it can all end in the blink of an eye.
Here is a young man, starting on a major league baseball team and a bright future ahead of him and while driving with friends after a great night at the office, it ends forever at the hands of a suspected drunk driver, Andrew Gallo of Riverside, California.
And lets not forget the others that died at the hands of the suspect, Gallo.
Courtney Stewart, 20, of Diamond Bar, California and Henry Nigel Pearson, 25, of Manhattan Beach, California. Another person in the car, John Wilhite, 25, also of Manhattan Beach is expected to survive. And I am certain with a heavy, heavy heart.
I can not imagine the grief of the Adenhart, Pearson and Stewart families. No parent wants their children to go off to the Glory before them.
As noted, it is a test of the fragility of our short time here on Earth. And, one hopes that when we are called home we will be able to face our maker has He has dealt with us through our lives. With grace.
Please pray for the three families and all the players and those connected with the Angels organization.

Very sorry to hear of Nick's death.

Baseball's loss, as well as his family's and friends'. Glad to hear that he pitched, and pitched well.

Yup, things can change in an instant.

As Warren Zevon said, "Enjoy every sandwich."

I saw that in the L.A. Times this morning. I watched Passion of the Christ last night, so I missed the 11:00 news. So sad, and what a lost promise.

Thanks for posting on this.

Rightwingsnarkle, there was no need to be so crude! A young person has died. Show some respect!
