An Act Of Non-Courage

Call me the cynical one, but I do not buy the sudden change of heart of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill) in now, after all that has come out about it, his leaving the Trinity United Church Of Christ after all that has come out.
There is way too much to bring up in this post.
But, the last straw was the rantings of a radical Roman Catholic priest preaching in the Trinity pulpit this past Sunday.
"Father" Michael Pfleger is another one of these very radical preachers who buy into the liberation theology movement that seemed to have been quashed in the Roman Catholic church by the late Pope John Paul II.
But, not with this winner. "Father" Pfleger leads a black Roman Catholic church in around the same location as Trinity. His church is St. Sabina. And, like the "Rev" Jeremiah Wright, "Father" Pfleger is one who is inflamatory to say the least.
"Father" Pfleger decided to "preach" about, I kid you not, the privilages of Sen. Hillary Clinton. Oh, and how she can not believe that a black man named Obama was "stealing" the Democrat nomination from her.
Forgot to note that "Father" Pfleger is white and in his rant somehow has the edge of the "Rev." Wright down pat. Almost can't tell the difference.
Since the Pfleger controversy surfaced and became another boil on the Obama campaign backside, I guess the Illinois senator realized that the more he was seen as a congragant of Trinity, the more that the controversy of Trinity and the Roman Catholic St. Sabina would haunt him.
In an act of non-courage, Sen. Barack is leaving the Trinity United Church Of Christ.
Oh, the Obamagasmics in the Dinosaur, Drive-By, Mainstream Media are going to tout this as such an act of courage.
But, it is not.
It is the cheapest act of political expediency in this election season.
It shows that the real reason Sen. Barack joined the church in the first place was not because the "Rev." Wright brought him to Jesus Christ. It was to gain street cred in his aspirations of being a "communtiy organizer"-re: community agitator.
And this is the unifying Messiah that the DDBMSM wants to foist on the American people?
The more one sees and hears Sen. Barack, the more one realizes that this is a real neophyte and, worse, a real dyed-in-the wool European-style socialist.
While that is good news for Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain, it is bad news for the Democrat party.
Political courage is in real short supply this Death March of a political season and this latest act from Sen. Barack is another act of non-courage that has gripped this campaign on both sides.
Would one of these candidates show some political courage? Is that too much to ask?

Another From The Decline Of Civilization

It appears that Denmark is openly promoting what has been up to this sick event a private affair, so to speak http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Quirks/2008/05/30/denmark_sets_first_masturbate-a-thon/4703/.
Can you believe it? A masturbation contest?!?!
Remember, this is what a socialistic, Godless society promotes as A-OK. Think about that in November if you think that punishing the Republicans for straying from first principles.
Remember that is NOT just voting for the candidate. It is also the ideas and baggage he or she brings with them.

Now, This Is The Bob Dole I Like

Today, former Sen. Bob Dole gave his unvarnished opinion of the ungrateful little snot, er Scott McClellan http://time-blog.com/real_clear_politics/2008/05/bob_dole_obliterates_mcclellan.html.
It is a real act of loyalty what Mr. Dole wrote.
Little Snotty Scott McClellan must have thought his role in the Bush administration was much more than the deputy press secretary to Ari Fleischer. He became press secretary because President Bush is a decent man and thought you could handle it. You could not little Snotty.
So, when all was said and done, you went to an openly left-wing publisher peddling your book. After a lot of rewriting, it is amazing you lasted as long as you did in the Bush administration.
Snotty Scott is a whiner. And an opportunist, just like mommy Carole Strayhorn. And that is the worst kind of turncoat.
Bob Dole may not be the best conservative, but he is a man of great loyalty. Snotty Scott could take a lesson from Mr. Dole. But, alas, he did not and is on with Keith Olbermann, former sports anchor, pontificating on the possibility of finally, Mr. Sports Guy's orgasmic dream of impeaching President Bush.
In a nutshell, Bob Dole is a real man and a loyal one. Snotty Scotty McClellan is a bumbling, opportunist who will find out who his real friends were soon enough.

Scott McClellan: The Apple Does Not Fall Far From The Tree

Ah, to be back from a very relaxing vacation from New Mexico and Arizona, all God's Country, and lo and behold, a book by former White House press secretary, Scott McClellan, comes out early. Of course, it is because it lambastes the Bush administration and the man he worked for, President Bush.
But, what is missing from the story is that this McCllean apple does not fall far from the family tree.
In 2006, a woman named Carole Keeton Strayhorn ran for governor of Texas. She was the Texas state comptroller. She was a Republican. Oh, and she is the mother of one Scott McClellan.
While she was wildly popular and even outpolled the incumbent governor, Rick Perry in 2002 for her post, she quickly went after Gov. Perry. That is because she did not like the policies that Gov. Perry was following, including but not especially, private financing for road projects. Why, what is un-Republican about that?
Well, since Mrs. Strayhorn, now on her third marriage, had no chance to actually beat Gov. Perry in a Republican primary, she left the Republican party and mounted her "Independent" run for governor.
Needless to say, she did not win. She simply ran a distant third place, behind Democrat Chris Bell and the still Gov. Perry.
So, Mrs. Strayhorn did not get her way and she decided to run a campaign as "One Tough Grandma".
To bad One Tough Grandma turned out to be one typical politician. She took in over $2 million from trial lawyers for her race for state comptroller.
Oh, and along the way, Mrs. Strayhorn went from Democrat who was Walter Mondale's Travis County (Austin) co-chair, to Republican to run for congress in 1986. She also changes positions when it suits her attempt for power. She was a staunch supporter of school vouchers, but ran against them in the "Independent" bid for governor. She went from pro-life to the I don't know position. She went from Democrat to Republican to Independent.
In fact, Mrs. Strayhorn is nothing more than a political opportunist always looking for higher office. The voters of Texas finally tired of her act and said, go home, by giving her only 18% of the vote for governor in 2006.
Now, fast forward to Scott McClellan.
He went to work for then-Gov. Bush in 1999. He told NBC Today hostess Meridith Viera that he thought that Gov. Bush was really going to bring a new tone as president. He cited his tenure as governor of Texas. Well, what Mr. McClellan left out was that it is a lot easier to bring moderate/conservative Democrats with moderate/conservative Republicans. In Washington, there are liberal/socialist Democrats and a smattering of moderate/conservative Democrats. Most of the latter became Republicans.
One of the whines of Mr. McClellan is that he was kept out of the loop of many of the major decisions of the administration concerning the war in the Iraq theatre. Well, after all, he was the deputy press secretary then. Ari Fleischer was his boss.
As Rush Limbaugh pointed out today http://rushlimbaugh.com/, a lot of the "book" may have been ghost written. And, the publishing house is a George Soros funded entity.
To me, I think that Scott McClellan is a sad man. Someone who thought he had more influence than he really had. Thus, he followed mommy's lead and went out for blood and defamed the man that he thought should have given him more power. That man is George W. Bush.
It is a shame that the apple does not fall far from the tree for ol' Scott "Benedict Arnold" McClellan.

A Bit O' New Mexico

As noted in the previous post, the family is spending this Memorial Day weekend in New Mexico.
New Mexico is an amazingly beautiful state.
One of the fascinating aspects is seeing the Indian areas. The family took in the Acoma, City In The Sky pueblo yesterday. These people have elders that have lived in the old ways, in adobes with no electricity, since the 13th century at least. And, like California, they also have Indian casinos and this tribe is no different. They built a new cultural center two years ago after a fire destroyed the old one. Way to go Indians!
The politics here are very interesting.
There is a Republican contest to replace retiring Sen. Pete Domenici. As usual, there is a moderate and a conservative battling it out. Both are members of congress. The moderate is Heather Wilson and the conservative is Steve Pearce. It is neck and neck and the primary is on June 3rd. If you are a Republican in New Mexico, vote for Pearce. The local DDBMSM is pushing for Mrs. Wilson, the moderate. One newspaper, the Santa Fe New Mexican, says that Mrs. Wilson is a protege of Sen. Domenici. That is not really a good thing. Sen. Domenici has been moderate personified. What New Mexico needs is a conservative. It is going to be a long year for conservatives anyway, especially at the top of the ticket.
Leaving politics, New Mexico is truly the Land of Enchantment. We are roughly 7,000 feet and it is still considered the desert.
One more note.
If you come to Santa Fe, you must eat at Maria's on Cordova. It is the BEST Mexican food in town! Highly recommended by the Rightviewfromtheleftcoast family!
And, most important of all this weekend.
Remember those who have served our Great Land in the armed forces who have fallen. They have done so not just that we can enjoy a weekend like this, but for all of our freedoms.
God Bless Our Troops And The United States Of America!

Taking A Break

Just a little post to let the loyal readers know that Mrs. rightviewfromtheleftcoast and our dog, Scout the Wonder Dog are taking a little trip and I am posting from Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is God's country. Too bad there are sooooo many limosine lefties! Anyway, will be back on Wednesday unless there is something major. Like Sen. "F--- You" McCain making the right choice, Romney, for vice president!

Maybe Sen. John McCain Should Read This

This column by John Hawkins http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JohnHawkins/2008/05/23/we_need_reagans_principles,_not_his_agenda
explains the dilemma facing the Republican party of 2008 and how to solve it.
It talks about the Great Man, former President Ronald Reagan and what I have written about many times. It is not trying to turn back the clock to the Reagan era. It is to remember the fundamentals and how they are always going to work if applied correctly.
And, their in lies the problem.
We have a presumptive candidate, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain who claims to have been a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution. Yet, time and time again, Sen. "F--- You" McCain seems to forget that the Reagan Revolution had one important element at the core. Government can not solve problems.
Government is not going to cure globaloney warming. We do not even have a serious consensus that there is such a thing. And, even less of a consensus as to whether or not it is caused by man.
Government is not going to cure the health care delivery crisis. If anything, government needs to get the hell out of the way and let doctors, the pharmaceutical industry, private hospitals and yes, even those who believe in a more natural, holistic, herbal way to creating healthy Americans. Remember, it is not that we have lousy health care. It is how it is delivered and the cost of the health care.
I think that Sen. "F--- You" McCain needs to read Mr. Hawkin's piece closely. It would be a great reminder of the rendezvous with history that he now has. Instead of fighting Soviet Communists, we are now fighting radical Jihadist Islam. And, they are without borders and much more ruthless than the Soviet Communists. Sen. "F--- You" McCain needs to understand that as well as the proper role of the federal government, which is to be deferential to the states and as little involved in the day-to-day lives of Americans.
John Hawkins has it right. Every conservative needs to read this and see it as a blueprint to restore the Republican party to that of real, conservative principles. Like Ronald Reagan.

Well, John McCain Tells Another Supporter "F--- You"

You have to got to hand it to Sen. John "F--- You" McCain. Just when we are ready to give a little more support to his quest for the presidency, Sen. "F--- You" McCain dumps the support of Pastor John Hagee http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/22/mccain-rejects-hagee-backing-as-nazi-remarks-surface/.

Supposedly, Pastor Hagee said that the Holocaust hastened the return of the Jewish people to the biblical land of Israel. If it was said, once again as noted in earlier postings, this is a more or less Fundamentalist Christian point of view. It is certainly not anti-Semetic.

The question is, shall we do serious vetting of all who support a candidate? Is this not just an attempt by the DDBMSM to smear Sen. "F--- You" McCain with the guilt by association? And, as usual, is our candidate only to willing to throw a conservative supporter under the train?

Take focusing on supporters. The reason that the "Rev." Jeremiah Wright was put under the microscope in the first place is because of Sen. Barack himself. Sen. Barack is the one who said that the "Rev." Wright is the man who brought him to Jesus Christ. Why, Sen. Barack's infamous "The Audacity Of Hope" is from a title of a "Rev." Wright sermon. And, one can not believe that Sen. Barack was either not in church during the more controversial sermons of the "Rev." Wright or was he doing a Homer Simpson and listening to a Chicago Bears game only pretending to be paying attention? Again, I let you be the judge. I can not believe that Sen. Barack and his family were just passing through Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years.

For Sen. "F--- You" McCain, he has obviously had little if any relationship with Pastor Hagee. It is because Sen. "F--- You" McCain knew so little about the pastor and the type of Christianity he believes. It is appearent that the McCain team was depending on Texas Republican types and did nothing to "vet" Pastor Hagee.

Without a doubt, the DDBMSM is trying to somehow take a deeply personal relationship between Sen. Barack and family with the "Rev." Wright and compare it to the two ship passing in the night relationship between Pastor Hagee and Sen. "F--- You" McCain. There is no comparison whatsoever.

And most of all, shame on Sen. "F--- You" McCain doing what he does best. Slamming his "fellow" conservatives. In this case, it appears he was only too happy to reject Pastor Hagee's endorsement. One would think that Sen. "F--- You" McCain was endorsed by the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan or

McCain Veep Hunting

According to this story in the New York Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/21/us/politics/21cnd-mccain.html?ex=1369108800&en=fde58efe414a6b98&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain is having three potential vice-presidential candidates at his ranch in Sedona, Arizona over the upcoming weekend.
The three are all governors or former governors. Florida's popular Charlie Christ, Louisiana's new conservative superstar Bobby Jindal and one time rival and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
All three have good things to bring to being the potential number two with ol' Sen. "F--- You" McCain. Two of the three have drawbacks that can make a little trouble in the fall contest. One has the economic background that brings something necessary to a candidate who has admitted that he is not all that up on basic economy 101.
Charlie Christ. Popular governor of Florida. Seemingly a conservative heir to former Gov. Jeb Bush. But, he has done a Gov. Arnold and gone a bit squishy. Oh, not nearly as bad as Gov. Arnold, but bad enough. That is one drawback. The other is that there have been nasty and clearly unsubstantiated rumors that Gov. Christ is secretly a homosexual. May not play well with the base, a base Sen. "F--- You" McCain needs very desperately.
Bobby Jindal. Just elected last year in a landslide as governor of always troubled Louisiana. Gov Jindal set forth enacting major reforms of how Louisiana does business as a state. Sweeping ethical reform is the hallmark of Gov. Jindal's tenure. And, that is one of Sen. "F--- You" McCain's hallmarks under a reform banner. But, Gov. Jindal is young and has not even gotten through his first term. There is a lot of work to do and Gov. Jindal needs to finish it. His time will come.
Leaving Mitt Romney the third candidate. As a former Mitt partisan, of course I think he is the best choice. But, there is a downside. The pluses are many. Mr. Romney is very experienced in the private sector. He saved and made Bain Capital. Did the same with the teetering Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics. And, once done with that he ran and won a term as governor of bluer than blue Massachusetts. So, Mr. Romney has a good, successful economic background and a sucessful term as governor of Massachusetts. But, there is the Mormon bugaboo. That may be the one downside. But, in a spirited campaign, I think that his defense of his faith and openness to protecting those of different faiths, he may be over that downside. Oh, one more thing. Mr. Romney ran the hardest race against Sen. "F--- You" McCain proving that he could be the attack dog with a smile. And the chances are that he will not be quite as prone to make the kind of colorful remarks that Sen. "F--- You" McCain is known for.
So, if I were to be prognosticating this, if these are the final three, here is my order of finish:
1) Mitt Romney
2) Bobby Jindal
3) Charlie Christ.
Maybe next week will be a big announcement. And, Sen. McCain needs big and good news to offset the overwhelmingly orgasmic coverage of Sen. Barack by the Dinosaur, Drive-By, Mainstream Media. And, to get that sluggish base ready to go for November.

I Guess The Home Foreclosure "Crisis" Has Hit Politicians Too

According to a Los Angeles Times blogger, California congresswoman Laura Richardson "walked away" from a $578,000 mortgage on her Sacramento home that she purchased with no money down http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/816965/29322186.

Now, am I supposed to feel sorry for her? Should I, a taxpayer who does NOT own a home bail her out? Should people losing their homes for their bad financial decisions be something the government do anything about?

No. No. No.

The congresswoman should have been smart enough to handle her own finances. If she bought a home with no money down, one of two things. One, she had excellent credit. Two, not putting any money down is a very unwise way to buy a home. I do not feel sorry for her.

As far as any government entity bailing out these people, I do feel bad for people who made bad financial decisions. But, it is that person's responsibility, not our collective responsibililty. The government has no business or reason to set up ways for people making bad financial choices to weasel out of them. The people and lenders need to work things out and if not, the person will have to be foreclosed.

Some More Judicial Briliance

For those who did not seem all that bothered by the California state supreme court usurping the will of the people with its ruling legalizing same-sex marriage last week, here is one for you.
By a 2-1 decision, the federal appeals court for the District of Columbia ruled that paper money as is discriminates against blind people http://www.townhall.com/news/us/2008/05/20/court_paper_money_discriminates_against_the_blind.
It really is in the can you top this one file.
I mean, for well over 200 years, since there has been a United States and paper money, it has never been made with blind or non-blind people in mind.
Primarily, especially today, our paper money is being made to stay one step ahead of counterfeiters. Thus, we are getting silly-looking money. Have you seen a $50 dollar bill lately? How about a $20? Or, my favorites, the $10 and $5 dollar bills? To say they look silly is an understatement.
So, according to the federal appeals court decision, because the paper federal reserve notes are not different sizes, a blind person can not easily tell the difference and because of that, it is discriminatory.
The beauty of this legal fight is that it is pitting two blind special interest groups.
The American Council For The Blind is the group that brought the lawsuit and has made it to a part of the court of appeals. On the other side is the National Federation Of The Blind, which sided with the government.
Even a blind person quoted in the AP article said that he may favor changing the paper money size, but that he is not being discriminated against because he is not being denied or can not use paper money.
It takes a real blind person to have logic.
The lawsuit claims discrimination, yet who is telling blind people they can not use paper money? No one.
But, in this age of victimization, real and or imagined, some blind people think, why we should push to change the size of our money. After all, we really can't see what money is changing hands. I mean, how do I know if I am giving a $10 dollar bill and getting the $5 dollar bill back in change? Why, I may be taken advantage of. I am a victim, even if I am not. My one blind group says I am. But wait, another says I am not. What is it?
The only saving grace of this moronic decision is that the court can not direct the Treasury department to make any changes. And, the full District of Columbia appeals court has not heard the case. Nor, has this gone to the supreme court.
In this age when the government rightly worries that our money may not only be counterfeited by nefarious criminals but potential terrorists and or their allies, they forgot about the blind.
The continuous victim class is no longer the victim.
It appears that the rest of us are however.

Good GOP News For A Change

In a what took you so long moment, New York congressman Vito Fossella, moral degenerate, has decided not to seek reeelction http://www.nypost.com/seven/05202008/news/regionalnews/fossella_now_vito_finito_111655.htm#.
Although it makes a tough GOP a little tougher, Vito saw the light and realized that he could no longer hang on to his Staten Island seat.
This is good news for the GOP, believe it or not.

Sen. Kennedy Has A Brain Tumor

It appears that we now know why Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass) suffered a seizure over this past weekend as he has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-kennedy21-2008may21,0,4973997.story.
Say what we will about the erstwhile Solon, and he has driven us conservatives crazy over the many years he has served in the senate, but he has been a very successful senator and a true believing liberal.
The only one on the Republican side to match his commitment and knowledge of the senate was the former North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms.
So, we should say a prayer for Sen. Kennedy and hope that he comes back to the senate soon-so he can drive us crazy and for us conservatives to try and find a way to beat him back.

See, I Told You So About GOP Minority Recruitment

This story on Politico highlights a problem, as if the Republicans do not have enough, about a way that they can make breakthroughs with minorities-if they only would try http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0508/10464.html.
It is not a new problem. But, it is part of the problem in a center-right party that does not have a slew of race or gender groups a la the Democrats. Thus, we are seeing a serious problem that has been hidden for years burst out like crazy among the Democrats in the race between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
For the Republicans, it is a serious one that can easily be remedied.
As noted in a post last week, the Republican party can not recruit minorities to lose elections. It is pointless to have these candidates run in heavily gerrymandered Democrat districts. They have to be recruited to run in big races.
That is what happened in 2006.
Sure, Ken Blackwell lost for governor in Ohio and Lynn Swann for the same post in Pennsylvania. And, who can forget the great Michael Steele in his heroic run for the senate from Maryland?
So, what happened this year?
No effort and once again, the Republicans fail to elevate conservative, minority candidates and the other side attributes it to racism.
It is not racism. It is the difference in the parties, in ideology.
In the Republican party, it is merit that gets one ahead. In the Democrat party, one can be a multi-generation member of a minority and keep an office for many a moon. Thus, the Democrats look wonderful. Look how many blacks are in congress! And, the Dems have three minority governors! WOW!
Too bad most are incompetent boobs.
The Republican party needs to put the Michael Steeles, the Sen. Mel Martinez (when not pontificating on "comprehensive immigration reform") types out there, to show that those who are minorities and conservative are welcomed to the Republican party. They need to come home and that maybe a good legacy that a President "F--- You" McCain can leave his party.

More Snobbery From The Hollyweird Crowd

According to Moviefone, actress Nicole Kidman is not a fan of the Cracker Barrel restaurant:
He's a little bit country, she's a little bit fancy Oscar-winning actress. According to the National Enquirer, pregnant Nicole Kidman threw a fit when hubby Keith Urban took her to lunch at the less-than-ritzy Cracker Barrel.
Now, there are no Cracker Barrel restaurants in California. And, that is a shame. But, I was introduced by accident on the family trip to Mt. Rushmore last year. And, I think it is a great place. Great food and, here is one for Nicole, real people. And some of the real people may even be your fans!
Now, I am not a real fan of country music, but I will say that in my estimation, Keith Urban has good taste!
Once again, another from the Hollyweird elite show their true colors. They love when we show up to see their usually inane movies. Or, they love when we watch their television shows. But to actually associates with the fly-over people?! No way.
At least the country music crowd does not, to my knowledge, have an elitist attitude. That is why I think so many Americans take a liking to the country crowd. It is what I do like about the musicians and the people. They keep it real.
A word to Nicole Kidman.
Next time Keith wants a little home-down cooking, go along, sit back and enjoy what the rest of us enjoy. With and open mind, you may realize what the rest of us like and enjoy. And, you may enjoy it too!

Such Leadership From Sen. Barack

It is truly amazing. It is like a return to the 1970s. You may remember that awful, forgettable decade. It was the age of Watergate. The age of disco. YUCK! The age of the Soviet Union on an unchallenged march to total world domination. And of course, who can forget our wonderful presidents during that era. Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. A rouge's gallery if there ever was one.
Now, I think that we are more and more getting a taste of where a Sen. Barack presidency will go. Back to the 70s.
Here is a gem from the man who wants to be our president:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,"
Do you not get it? It is OUR fault that there are problems in the world. If we would just not drive those eeeevviiiilllllll SUVs, and not eat as much and have instead of globaloney warming, ones own home warming. To save the planet, you know.
This comment from Sen. Barack was in, where else, Portland, Oregon. And, with the photo on the Drudge Report http://drudgereport.com, you would think it was some new Woodstock or some summer concert. But, no, it was an orgy of self-loathing that is going to be the Democrat campaign.
What I would like to know is what kind of American leader is successful by bashing his or her own nation? Not talking about the greatness of this Great Land? And what we can do, not what we can not do?
It is very disturbing that the Democrat party is taking such a decidedly left turn. Maybe the thinking among the activist Democrats is that President Bush has been so bad, that the American people are ready for a good case of self-loathing and that the United States is a bully and should just insulate itself and socialize vast parts of the American economy, all in the name of making sure every American, or non-American, has government health care. And that we are doing all the heavy lifting in trying to stop something that does not exist, globaloney warming?
We are not doing such a great job at the GOP with our guy, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain. But, if he is looking for unsolicited advice, here it is.
Share a vision for the United States. Talk about that Shinning City On The Hill as your mentor, so you say, Ronald Reagan, talked about. Now, there is nothing wrong with admitting that mistakes have been made, and yes, especially in regards to the Iraq theatre in the War Against Islamofacsist Terror. But, tell the American people that we will not back down and that with you as president, you will make the adjustments when necessary. But do not talk down about this Great Land and People. Talk like a real great Democrat, President John F. Kennedy, about the boundlessness of America. What we CAN do.
That is what is troubling about the Sen. Barack candidacy. It is just telling us how terrible we are and that we need his messianic leadership. No, we need to hear from you that this nation is a great one and what you will do to make it better. But, that would require you to keep most of your allies quiet, starting with Mrs Obama, Michelle. I do not know how you cover that one Sen. Barack.

Some Good Insight To Help The Staggering GOP

This piece on the Politico website offers some great insight on how the Republican party can get its act together and while maybe not get congress back into GOP hands, it may stem the tide towards the Democrats this election http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0508/10370.html.
Some highlights include input from Mitt Romney that the Republicans need a new, modern version of the Contract With America. Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey says that the GOP needs to get back to basics. You know, cutting taxes and spending, reminding America that they, not the Democrats are the party to lead on the critical issue of the day, national security.
Another, and I like this title, is "Cut The Crap". It states the obvious. That the Republicans need to rid itself of the rotting meat. You know, cretins like boozing womanizer congressman Vito Fossella. Why he is still a member of congress is part of the problem. So-called House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) needs to tell Vito, this party is over and do not let the door hit you on the rump as you leave. Same goes with Sen. Larry "Happy Feet" Craig (R-Idaho). It is totally embarrassing that this man is still in the senate. And so-called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell should be doing the same to Sen. Craig. This part of the article is what the GOP problem is:
This is no laughing matter to many Republicans. Voters don’t pay much attention to Congress unless there is a good scandal or bad spending.
No kidding!
We need to get those with big bucks back on our side. Even those of us who give a few bucks here and there are tired of investing good money on a bad investment. And, to many, that is the current national Republican party. Unless the GOP gets back to basics, they will be in the minority for a while.
But, there is hope as there are a great deal of fresh, new and dynamic faces out there.
And that leads to the next point.
The Republicans must have a real, conservative family-friendly agenda. And that it is time to get some new people out there to promote that agenda.
A sidebar.
The Republicans need to recruit great conservative blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and everything in between. But, these people should not run in contests that they have no chance. These kind of candidates need to run in areas that may not be known for electing people of color. Former congressman J. C. Watts ran and won a race for congress in 1994-in Oklahoma. There are plenty of Hispanics in Republican areas that need to be recruited to run-and win. It will show the Democrats that they do not have to gerrymander districts to insure minority representation. Minorities can win anywhere and with a strong, pro family agenda.
Another suggestion is what the authors refer to as "Fan The Fears" and that is in regards to the Democrats and how they would handle the terror threat. And, another issue is judges and the courts. Now that four renegade California supreme court justices, led by the chief justice, have divined a "right" to same-sex marriage and usurped the will of the people and or the legislature, this is an issue that the Democrats have to wish never came up.
One aspect of the article I felt ambivalent to is to run away hard as one can from President Bush.
On some issues, fine, but on the core issues, I do not agree that candidates should run away from the president. On the War Against Islamofacsist Terror? No way. On tax cuts? No way. Candidates do not need President Bush at the hip, but they can use him in other, yes behind the scene ways. Raising money is one way. And, as noted, the GOP needs a cash infusion like Dracula needs a lot of blood!
I hope that someone in charge in Washington is reading this piece because it is a great blueprint to restore the good name of the GOP. And maybe keep the White House and the congressional losses to a minimum.

Another Reason Why I Will Miss W

Today, President Bush spoke before the Israeli Knesset, or parliament and in amazingly blunt and stark language condemned those who would want to negotiate with terrorists and or their patrons http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=4861337.
As the video link showed, President Bush never said any one person and or groups name, but for some reason, the Sen. Barack campaign, its allies and the Democrat party went into hyper overdrive in denouncing the President Bush remarks.
Look at the video. Did President Bush say Sen. Barack Obama? Did he say the Democrat party?
No and no.
What the president did was lay bare what the position is of not just the American left, but much of the rest of the world.
Europe has long been in the appeasement business when it comes to its dealings with much of the rouge states of the Islamic and radical Arab world. Just look at the involvement of the former French president, Jacques Chirac, in not just his dealings with Saddam Hussein, but in the United Nations Oil For Food scandal.
Europe has also bought into the Arab League boycott of Israel and companies that trade and or deal with Israel.
And yet, what has it brought? Has Europe been spared the scourge of radical Islamofacsist terror?
Once again, no.
What President Bush was trying to articulate, in blunt language, is that the United States can not cut deals with tyrants and terrorists in a vain attempt to stave off the inevitable.
If Sen. Barack and his minions take that as an attack against his stated positions and likely policies should he, God forbid, be elected president, then so be it.
Sen. Barack has tried to explain his position about "talking" with our enemies with no preconditions. Why, he even tried to resurrect former President Ronald Reagan. Sen. Barack claimed that Mr. Reagan talked to our enemies. And, that is true. But, what Sen. Barack fails to mention is that he did not talk to any Soviet thug since there were three different ones in his first term. Once Mikhail Gorbachev took the reins, and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher sized Gorbachev up did Mr. Reagan begin conversation. And, there were preconditions. Primarily, the reduction of nuclear weapons, not what previous administrations had done in limiting the spread of nuclear weapons. And, Mr. Reagan wanted not to accommodate the Soviet Union, but defeat it. Period.
Since we are dealing with rogue states that do not care about international convention, and terrorists that are not bound by any nation, treaty or concern of world opinion, how do we get to the talking Sen. Barack? What do we ask them for? What do we give up. Who do we give up? What will we get in return?
So, what President Bush was saying is what should be the obvious. We can not deal rationally with rouge states and must utterly defeat the Islamofacsist terrorists.
Since that seemed to rattle the Sen. Barack campaign, it seems like someone got the President's message.
What I will miss from President Bush is, to coin a phrase, straight talk. Something we can really use now more than ever in dealing seriously with the Islamofacsist terror threat.

California Supremes Supremely Stupid

The California state supreme court today ruled in a 4-3 decision that there is a right in the California constitution for two people of the same sex to marry, the same as a man to a woman http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/state/20080515-1050-bn15samesex2.html.
Now, it does not matter how one feels about same sex marriage. The problem is that the court overstepped itself and disguised it as upholding a constitutional "right".
That is the problem. And worse, the California legislature did vote on the issue and in favor of recognizing same-sex marriage. And, in a real profile of courage Gov. Arnold vetoed the bill twice saying that it was an issue for the court to decide.
WRONG!
That is why we elect those to the legislature. They are the ones to write and vote on legislation. And, the California legislature did just that. It is what a conservative believes, even if it does not go the way we would want.
Gov. Arnold should have signed the legislation and if the court did find that the legislation truly violated the constitution of California, then the legislature could have made the necessary adjustments.
But, what the court did is violate the trust of the people with the elected legislature. It inserted itself in law, made itself the super legislature. That is what the minority came to in its dissent.
And, because California is not like Massachusetts, there will be a vote on this issue in November.
Because of the innitive process, right now a group called Protect Marriage http://protectmarriage.org has well over 1.5 million signatures to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Period.
So, just in time for the presidential election, the culture war will be fought in the largest state in the United States.
And the California state supreme court will have to once again decide if the people and or elected legislators actually matter. It appears that the marker the court has layed down is, we do not.

The Globaloney Warming Cult

This column by Cal Thomas I think is one of the best written about the globaloney warming cult that has seemingly gripped both parties and in particular, one Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain http://www.townhall.com/columnists/CalThomas/2008/05/15/mccain_joins_global_warming_cult.
Now, the problem about the approach Sen. "F--- You" McCain takes is that he buys into the Al Gore view that the planet has 50 years or less left unless we "do something".
Also, it has been on the blogosphere that some of what influences Sen. "F--- You" McCain's "thinking" on globaloney warming is the influence of his daughter, 24 year-old Meagan McCain.
Now, she may be a nice young lady, but I do not think a recent college graduate with little real world experience should have such an influence on an issue such as this.
What can and should be done is some reasonable people-oriented ways to conserve. You know, such things as recycling, not wasting, using such items as reusable shopping bags to cut down on the use of plastics.
And, the free market can and will lead the way if science can agree, without political posturing, that there really is a warming of the planet and there is absolutely no doubt that it is primarily man-made. After all, the free market wants to have product to sell and customers to sell to.
The cap-and-trade scam that Sen. "F--- You" McCain supports is a big-government boondoggle. The claim by Sen. "F--- You" McCain that there will be a free market component to this proposal means, it will be a government market, no free market, component.
What is needed is a step back, and letting the the scientific community gather as much data as possible to verify or change whether or not there is such a thing as a warming of the planet.
And, if Sen. "F--- You" McCain really wants to do something, and on this it appears he does, is encourage nuclear energy. More and more plants need to be put either back on line and or built. Nuclear power is a clean form of energy.
No, Sen. "F--- You" McCain would be better served by talking more about issues that resonate with the Republican party that made him the nominee. He needs to address the globaloney warming not as a cult ringleader but a skeptic that is open to the possibility that science will go either way and until there is overwhelming evidence, there is really not much that can be done.
Please Sen. "F--- You" McCain, move on to something that actually resonates with voters. Like the economy and what a smaller government means for the average American. Get out of the cult.

Edwards Supporting Obama-No Profile In Courage

In what has to be the most ignoble endorsement of this political season, the former Democrat senator from North Carolina, John Pretty Boy Edwards officially endorsed Sen. Barack for the Democrat presidential nomination http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/20080514-1559-obama-edwards.html.
Why so soon?
I mean, it is really needed now that the primary season is near an end and it has become very apparent that Sen. Barack needs help with the bitter people, life those West Virginia voters that should have sent him a message.
So, Sen. Barack can say, see, Pretty Boy Edwards supports me. He buys into the One America screed. And, for his support, why I may give him another shot to lose the vice-presidency.
Remember, this Pretty Boy Edwards is the one who, as Sen. John Kerry's running mate in 2004, told a group that, by golly, if you vote for Sen. Kerry, he will approve federal funding of stem cell research and someone who was injured like the late actor Christopher Reeve would walk again.
SAY HALLELUJAH!
Also, it was Pretty Boy Edwards who tried the use the lesbian daughter of Vice-President Cheney, Mary Cheney, as a campaign issue. You know, because she is a lesbian and the issue of same-sex marriage came up.
Let us run down the political success of Pretty Boy Edwards.
In 1998, he managed to buy himself a senate seat in North Carolina. He barely won that seat. He had what can only be said a lackluster one term as senator from North Carolina. For you see, he knew that he could not win another term running for reelection from North Carolina.
In the infamous wisdom of the Kerry campaign, they really thought that this loser was going to possibly pull in some Southern states. Not only did Pretty Boy Edwards fail to bring in any solid South state, it turns out that he did not improve the Democrat percentage one bit. It was the same as in 2000, with Al Gore and Joe Lieberman the Democrat ticket.
So, why does any one really think the Pretty Boy Edwards endorsement makes a difference? This man, Pretty Boy, thought that being the vice-presidential nominee gave him an inside track to the Democrat nomination. Someone forgot to tell him about that other senator from New York, Hillary Clinton. She thought she should have the nomination. Pretty Boy's wisdom did not get him past South Carolina, his home state.
Maybe it is that seven percent that Pretty Boy garnered for just being on the West Virginia ballot. Well, it would not have changed St. Hillary's 67% win. If you add the seven percent to Sen. Barack's pathetic 27%, it would give the Illinois Solon 34%. WOW!
No, while the DDBMSM is gleaming from this that Sen. Barack may offer the vice-presidential nomination to Pretty Boy Edwards, I do not see the pluses. I see that Sen. Barack will have given up on the South. I do not think that one who ran to the left and still maintains the tired "two Americas" rhetoric is going to inspire the kind of voters that Sen. Barack needs. You know, the bitter, white, gun-totting, church-going people. You know, all those Democrats that voted for that famous populist, St. Hillary.
If Pretty Boy Edwards endorsement really mattered, he could have used it before Pennsylvania. Or maybe Ohio and Texas.
At the end of the day, all Pretty Boy Edwards did was what many a Republican did. Wait to see how it would all shake out and then endorse the winner. A profile of courage, indeed!

Politico Interview With President Bush

President Bush conducted a wide-ranging interview with Politico and here are some highlights http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0508/10316.html.
President Bush talked about his faith and how it is helped him throughout his presidency and his life. The way he talks about faith is natural and real, not fake and contrived and he does not have to make excuses about his pastor or avoid talking about it. A side note, the pastor who conducted daughter Jenna Bush's wedding over the weekend was Kirbyjon Caldwell, a friend of President Bush and a Sen. Barack supporter. Who says weddings can not be a non-partisan affair?
President Bush talked about why he no longer plays golf. It is sad that the president has to give up something that may be a relaxing activity, but in this media age, he is smart enough to realize that it gives a bad impression.
President Bush talked about making tough decisions. President Bush also addressed the fact that he is unpopular at this point, but that history will judge him well.
And, this is a first. That President Bush somewhat admitted that the pre-war intelligence leading up to the entrance of United States troops in the Iraq theatre in the War Against Islamofacist Terror may have not been the best. But, he did not say whether it would have changed the way that events turned out.
I think that this line President Bush said in the interview is what will stick,
Popularity is fleeting, Michael. Principles are forever.
The current candidates for president should all note this as a bedrock for what the job of being the leader of the United States is all about.
We endured eight years of a focus-group presidency under William Jefferson Blythe Clinton and one can not imagine that it would be another four or eight years under a Sen. Barack presidency.
This interview solidifies why I have supported President Bush these past years, even if he was not my first choice in 2000 (that was Steve Forbes).
George W. Bush may be many things, but he is a man a deep love for country and a willingness to make the toughest of decisions that, while they may not be popular now, are for the best interests of this Great Land. I, for one, am sorry that he can not have a third term. He would be head and shoulders above the Three Stooges running to replace him.

Obama Supporters Driving Whites To McCain

Tonight's West Virginia Democrat presidential primary results are now finally making one thing clear.
Since the supporters of Sen. Barack can not beat opponents on real issues, they are putting up the race card in an attempt to win not only the Democrat presidential nod, but driving moderate whites right into the hands of the presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain.
And, it may make the difference in this election for Sen. "F--- You" McCain becoming the 44th president.
Sen. Hillary Clinton won an astounding 67% of West Virginia Democrat votes compared with Sen. Barack's pathetic 27%. Amazingly, former Sen. John Pretty Boy Edwards, long gone from the race, managed 6%.
West Virginia is a state that the Democrats have to win in November.
An amazing statistic is that no Democrat has won the White House without winning West Virginia since 1916.
And, judging from Sen. Barack's vote total, that is a bad sign for the Sen. Barack steamroller.
And, look at the states that Sen. Barack has lost.
California, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and yes, Florida and Michigan.
Massachusetts has to hurt because much of the state Democrat establishment, led by the drunken sailor, Sen. Ted Kennedy, backed Sen. Barack.
All those states HAVE to go Democrat for Sen. Barack to win in November.
And, that may not be easy now that Sen. Barack and supporters have decided, that post-racial politics has not worked and will not work. Now, they are just openly pouring on the race issue in an attempt to drive white guilt.
It may work for Sen. "F--- You" McCain to say that he will run a "respectful" campaign and won't go down the race route. But, it will not work for the Sen. Barack gang. No, now that they have all but called those who vote against their guy racist, it will be very hard to bring them back in November.
And, maybe the message that they are really sending is that while Sen. Clinton may be as much of a socialist as Sen. Barack, at least she does not insult potential voters as Sen. Barack did in the infamous "bitter" comments at the San Francisco fundraiser.
At least Sen. Clinton did not and would not insult their religion, their right to bear arms (even though she would find a way to eventually put restrictions on gun ownership), and was a pretty good Boilermaker drinker.
No, these voters are going to remember how the Sen. Barack victory train derailed and how he really feels about this block of Democrat voters.
And, Sen. Barack is not going to make them up with historically low-turnout young voters and blacks. He needs them and is very dismissive of them all at once.
Since it is apparent that Sen. Clinton will not be the Democrat nominee, nor the vice-presidential nominee, she has no real interest in seeing Sen. Barack win the election. She will not go into the badlands of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas and try to woo the "bitter" voters to Sen. Barack's corner.
And, Sen. "F--- You" McCain can make a play for these voters without addressing the real reason that they will vote for him in the first place. That he does not insult them. That he really wants their vote.
And, in a strange way, the Democrats may lose these voters for quite a while unless they move away from outright socialism to the center.

And If You Think This Does Not Matter

It appears that Sen. Barack, the secular messiah, has new followers. But, they are not here in the United States. These are not the hoards of disgruntled Republicans so thoroughly disgusted at the GOP. No, according to Jim Gerragty, here are his new followers.
Palestinians in Gaza Are Phonebanking for Barack Obama
Phil Klein calls our attention to an al-Jazeera news report that sounds like a parody, but is genuine: A report on Palestinians in Gaza who are phonebanking in support of Barack Obama's campaign.
I transcribed the most jaw-dropping parts:
REPORTER: It may be hard to believe, but working in this tiny Internet cafe in Gaza City may just be one of Barack Obama's biggest fans. Before every U.S. primary, 23-year-old Ibrahim Abu Jayyab gathers 17 of his friends to try and rally support for Obama's campaign in the U.S.So why does a young Palestinian living in Gaza spend so much of his time and money on an election thousands of miles away?ABU JAYYAB: [translated] It all started at the time of the U.S. primaries. After studying Obama's electoral campaign manifesto, I thought, 'this is a man that is capable of change inside America.' As for potential change in the Middle East, he can also do that. I think he can bring peace to the area, or at least this is what we hope.REPORTER: And the game plan? Ibrahim and his friends call random numbers in the U.S. before every primary to deliver one simple message:ABU JAYYAB: [in English] Elect Senator Obama. I will change. I will achieve... the justice in the Middle East.
The rest of the report is about Bush failing to achieve peace in the Middle East, the U.S. "unwillingness to apply pressure on Israel over illegal settlements," a professor who says his students are following the election but A potttery maker says, "unless you support Israel, you won't get in the White House."The report concludes by showing graffiti in Gaza depicting a monstrous Bush, lips dripping with blood, clutching the world and drinking blood through a straw from a pile of skulls. The caption is, "Good bye Mr. Bush, we wont' miss you."The reporter's voice over of the graffiti: "There does to be one thing people here agree on."

05/13 02:54 PM
Scary, isn't it? But remember, Sen. Barack is a strong supporter of Israel.

More Thoughts On Why Just Say NO To The Rev. Mike

As this day has worn on and the thought of our Republican presumptive presidential nominee, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain possibly seriously entertaining asking the dreadful Rev. Mike Huckabee to be his vice-presidential candidate, more thoughts as to why the Arizona Solon should just say NO come to mind.
Most of the problems I have are on the Rev. Mike's version of Christianity.
Here is one for you, and it is the latest.
According to the latest Robert Novak column http://www.suntimes.com/news/novak/943991,CST-EDT-novak12.article, it appears that some of the Rev's. fervent supporters would rather see the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee, Sen. Barack, win the election because that is what America would deserve. And that the United States would turn to the Rev. Mike in 2012. Of course, that would mean Republicans would want to vote for a real Rev. Mike candidacy. And, the Novak article contends that the Rev. Mike may very well be sucking up to Sen. "F--- You" McCain now, while working with these fringe Christians to insure defeat to Sen. Barack in November.
That is disturbing, but not surprising since this is the same man, who with a smile on his face, asked a New York Times reporter whether it was true that according to Mormon doctrine, Jesus Christ and Satan were brothers. A little smear of his rival, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
But, little reported, was the Rev. Mike defending the indefensible, the "Rev." Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. You know, the church that Sen. Barack attended for 2o years and did not know how radical the "Rev." Wright was.
The Rev. Mike said that the "Rev." Wright had a lot of pain because he was a product of the racist South and that the rest of the United States does not know what life was like when the "Rev." Wright was growing up.
PLEASE!
Of course, later the Rev. Mike downplayed that, albeit, wimpy defense of the "Rev." Wright, but it was a defense. From another supposed conservative pastor.
And of course, who can forget the floating cross Christmas television advertisement. That led to a flurry of similar ads. But, the McCain campaign Christmas television ad was the most effective because it was personal, relating to Sen. "F--- You" McCain's time as a POW in North Vietnam as a "guest" at the "Hanoi Hilton."
No, this would mean that Sen. "F--- You" McCain does not want to seriously win the presidency.
Choosing someone like the "Rev." Mike is like asking for the Sen. Barack campaign to spend endless time defining him through the prism of the vice-presidential candidate. It would make potential voters think twice. Do they want someone who has the overall attributes of someone like the Rev. Mike? Does he not turn off more voters, nationwide, than attract? Is the South in that much danger of being ripe for Sen. Barack to pick off? And, if not, where does the Rev. Mike add anything outside the solid South?
I think that this is a trial balloon and that Republicans will say, no way Sen. Juan! We want to win in November and we want this McCain-? ticket to be on offense all the way. The Rev. Mike will be defense to defeat in November.

This Is NOT Good News

According to Real Clear Politics blog http://realclearpolitics.com, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain has the former Arkansas governor, the Rev. Mike Huckabee, on the top of his list for potential vice-presidential nominees.
This is not good news.
The Rev. Mike ran an abysmal campaign, basically made a fool of himself, and made his infamous Christmas television ad.
The Rev. Mike has no clue on domestic policy since he truly does advocate big, federal government and the so-called "fair tax".
The Rev. Mike is worse on foreign policy as he is not too far from the Obama position about "talking" with our enemies.
I hope that this is just a trial balloon put out there. If this is real, I think he is handing the presidency over to Sen. Barack.
Why?
Because the Rev. Mike has no base outside of the South. Even there, while he did finish first in several primaries, Sen. "F--- You" McCain was hot on his heels. By the infamous Super Duper Tuesday, it became appearant that Sen. "F--- You" McCain would be the GOP standard bearer, someone forgot to tell the Rev. Mike. He went on, in a foolish and childish way, until Sen.
"F--- You" McCain went over the top in delagates.
What Sen. "F--- You" McCain needs is someone that is not a loose cannon. He does that well all alone. The Rev. Mike just seemed way out of his league when pressed during debates on specific issues.
I am trying to be objective since I am a Romney supporter, but really, what does the Rev. Mike add to the ticket?
NOTHING!
Not even Iowa, a fluke that doomed the Romney candidacy.
No, Sen. "F--- You" McCain should not even seriously promote the possibiltiy of a Rev. Mike vice-presidency.
While I favor Mitt Romney, I would be more inclined to see former Sen. Fred Thompson over the Rev. Mike. Mr. Thompson is a real conservative, like Mr. Romney, and has substance. I can not believe that the Rev. Mike was elected twice as governor of Arkansas, but they did let loose the Clintons on us.
No, go back to the drawing board Sen. "F--- You" McCain and look at someone who can help your candidacy. Not a clown looking to make a buck.

And, Lebanon On The Road To Renewed Civil War

It appears that Lebanon, as noted before the weekend, is now nearing a complete collapse and an new civil war. And, with the help of the client terror thugs Hezbollah, Syria will use it as a pretext to re-enter the tragic land and impose its rule as it did throughout much of the '90s.
It is an awful event to watch because of the inaction of the West, led by the United States, a situation will occur that will give Islamic terrorists a tangible victory and the certain takeover of Lebanon by radical elements.
Do not be fooled. Even though there are many Sunni Muslims, a still large Christian community, a small Druze community, they do not have the organizational skills and termidity of Hezbollah.
The West, led by the United States, needs to take serious action to prevent this situation from spinning out of control. The fate of Israel's survival, and that of the West may very well depend on what action we take now.

Beautiful Bernie Ward

It appears that one Bernie Ward, former Roman Catholic priest and now former left-wing radio talk show host can add another notch on the ol' resume. Convicted of federal child pornography charges.Mr. Ward cut a deal with the federal prosucutor and may serve as much as five years in a federal prison. The irony is that Mr. Ward, the former Roman Catholic priest, used his talk show on KGO 810 to bash the Roman Catholic church and its handling of the child sex abuse scandal. It appears that Mr. Ward, judging from this, may have attained first-hand knowledge of what he spoke. It is not a good thing what has happened to the Roman Catholic church on this scandal. Sure, church opponents will argue that this would not have happened if the hierarchy would just let priests marry in the first place. That is not my point. It had been the way that the church handled it in the first place. It did not address the reality that they were letting almost anyone with a pulse into the priesthood and moving the bad apples around. On so many issues, though I am a Protestant and more or less evangelical (I can not explain how I ended up a member of the Episcopal Church except that Almighty God has a sense of humor!), I find myself attracted to the Roman church teaching on many matters that affect our world today. For that moral compass, this scandal and the handling, or lack therof, of it is why so many are saddened by what has happened. But, Almighty God may have got one right sending hypocrite and child pornographer Bernie Ward to federal prison. There, he will find that his kind are not even welcomed.

Back To A Tragic Future

It appears that while nobody is really paying attention, civil war may be erupting once again in Lebanon as Hezbollah thugs, most certainly backed by their patrons in Iran and nearby Syria, are seizing West Beirut in a serious attempt to overthrow the pro-West government.
I have the whole link from CNN because it is very important to have some idea about what is at stake.
What is very worrisome is that there is such a timid response not just from our so-called allies but from our own State Department.
What is needed is a no, uncertain total support for the government and a unified response that a Hezbollah take over of Lebanon, which will put much of the nation in danger, will not be tolerated.

BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- Hezbollah militias took control of western Beirut on Friday, dealing a major blow to the U.S.-backed government in Lebanon.
Future TV, with a poster of slain leader Rafik Hariri, whose family owns the station, burns Friday in Beirut, Lebanon.
Walid Jumblatt, a Druze leader and part of the March 14 pro-government coalition, described it as a "coup."
Jumblatt's coalition called the takeover an effort to "bring Syria back to Lebanon" and extend Iran's reach to the Mediterranean.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice accused Hezbollah leaders of trying to "protect their state within a state."
Hezbollah leaders did not make public statements Friday.
Two pro-government TV stations were shut down -- and the building of one, Future TV, was soon on fire.
Watch the TV station burn »
Nadim Mounla, the head of Future TV, said Hezbollah had sent a "clear message" that it would destroy the stations.
The building housing offices of a newspaper was set on fire as well. It and the two TV stations are owned by the prominent Hariri family, leading supporters of the government.
Hezbollah "turned their weapons ... toward the hearts of the innocent civilians of Beirut," said Samir Geagea, executive director of the Lebanese forces, reading a statement after a meeting of the pro-government March 14 coalition.
"They invaded their neighborhoods and shelled their homes with a hail of bombs that were sent from Tehran through the Damascus gateway," he said.
"The purpose behind this coup is to bring Syria back to Lebanon and allow Iran to reach the Mediterranean," he said.
Syria and Iran support Hezbollah, and Syrian troops occupied Lebanon from 1990 until 2006.
Iran said Friday that "U.S.-Israel adventurism" is the "main cause for lingering crisis and instability" in Lebanon.

State-run news agency IRNA, citing Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini, added that "Iran's stand on Lebanon has always been based on non-interference in a matter that is entirely related to the Lebanese nation, alone."
And Syria's state-run news agency SANA said President Bashar al-Assad discussed Lebanon during a meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

"The two sides hoped that the brothers in Lebanon would be able to find a solution to this situation through dialogue among themselves in a way that preserves the security and stability of Lebanon," al-Assad said.
The country's elected, pro-Western government has long been locked in a power struggle with Hezbollah, which fought a 34-day war with Israel in 2006.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah called that conflict "a strategic and historic victory" but acknowledged underestimating the cost in lives and destruction.
In public statements and demonstrations in recent years, the Shiite militant group backed by Iran and Syria threatened to use its power and popularity to oust the Sunni-led government, triggering fears of a new civil war that could further destabilize the volatile region.
Lebanon was crippled by a 15-year civil war that ended in 1990.
Government troops and another militia group, Fatah al-Islam, fought a series of bloody battles last year over control of Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. More than 150 people were reported killed in those clashes.
In a written statement, the U.S. secretary of state said the United States is "deeply concerned" about the violence.
"Backed by Syria and Iran, Hezbollah and its allies are killing and injuring fellow citizens, undermining the legitimate authority of the Lebanese government and the institutions of the Lebanese state," Rice wrote.
"Seeking to protect their state within a state, Hezbollah has exploited its allies and demonstrated its contempt for its fellow Lebanese. No one has the right to deprive Lebanese citizens of their political and economic freedom, their right to move freely within their country or their sense of safety and security."
The White House said Rice is reaching out to the Lebanese government. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said she also discussed Lebanon with officials from Saudi Arabia, France and the United Nations.
National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said, "We are very troubled by the recent actions of Hezbollah. We urge Hezbollah to stop their attempt to defy the lawful decisions taken by the democratically elected Lebanese government."
The Lebanese army did not join the battles that erupted this week. Taking sides could throw the military -- with its own political factions -- into disarray.
Soldiers instead effectively negotiated a surrender of pro-government positions, Lebanese Internal Security Forces and Western military observers said.

Jumblatt said the government is "now at the end of a gun barrel" and expects the "conditions for surrender will be offered sooner or later."
"I think ... it's a coup," he said. "The Lebanese army is in total paralysis."
With pro-government gunmen out of the way, fighting in the capital eased a bit Friday after two days of intense gunbattles echoing through
Beirut's streets.
At least 11 people have been killed and 44 wounded in the clashes since Wednesday, according to Lebanese Internal Security Forces.
Earlier this week, the government demanded
Hezbollah shutter its telecommunications operations, which Hezbollah called an act of war. The government also fired the chief of security at the Beirut airport amid a probe of allegations that Hezbollah had installed cameras and other monitoring equipment there to spy on political opponents.
Saad Hariri, the leader of the government's bloc in parliament, is the son of the late former Lebanese Prime Minister
Rafik Hariri, whose 2005 assassination sparked protests that brought the current government to power and led to the withdrawal of Syrian troops. Watch Hariri supporters protest »
Since then, dynamics in Lebanon have been reshaped by the war between Hezbollah and Israel, and by the ongoing power struggle between Hezbollah and the government.

Fossella Must Go

As if the Republicans did not have enough troubles in the upcoming elections, news of the lone conservative, Republican congressman from New York City, Vito Fossella, being arrested for DUI, or DWI, and the revelation of not just having an affair but a daughter as the result of said affair is making retaking the House of Representatives an even more herculean task http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/10/nyregion/10fossella.html?ex=1368158400&en=af8147969a0e3968&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink.
Mr. Fossella is just following the disturbing pattern of many a congressman that set in motion the Democrat takeover of the House in 2006.
The list is sad and disturbing.
Lets start with Don Sherwood. He was a congressman from Pennsylvania. Not only was he a womanizer, but he liked to choke his mistress. Needless to say, he is no longer a congressman.
And lets stay in Pennsylvania.
Now former congressman Curt Weldon was accused of taking bribes. Now, he is gone.
Down in Florida, there is the child, gay pervert and, guess what? Yes, former congressman Mark Foley. He liked to IM young boys who were congressional pages wanting to know very disturbing things that said boys were doing, even encouraging them to have phone sex. And, Mr. Foley was on a committee that was investigating child predators. Must have been some research!
Then there was former Republican House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay. Now, in his defense, the Texas prosucutor was going after him for purely political reasons. But, the pressure was too much and he resigned congress. And, his seat was lost. Of course, Mr. DeLay is not being prosucted at this point and the case looks like it is not going to trial anytime soon.
Ahh, but here in California, like everything else, the case of excess and humiliation is the case of former Vietnam war naval pilot and hero Randy "Duke" Cunningham. He took so much in bribe money from defense contractors that he is actually sitting in a prison cell as you read this post.
And, let us not forget the king of the perverts, Sen. Larry "Happy Feet" Craig and his trolling for gay sex in a toilet at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport.
On this case of seemingly endless Republican congressional malfeasence, our presumptive presidential candidate, Sen. John "F--- You" McCain is beyond correct. The House, and the Senate need a cleaning. It is the corruption and the losing of the Republican way that lost the congressional majorities.
And now, Vito from Staten Island not only may be a drunk, but a womanizer and father of an illegitamate daughter. What a trifecta!
The New York Post

says it all. It is time for Vito to go.
And, I hope that Sen. "F--- You" McCain does address this stain on the Republican name.
It is time to return to principles and to find good and decent people to remember those principles when they are elected to any office they run for.
Republicans should not be running to just change the names and play the same games as the Democrats. It is expected that the Democrats are going to be corrupt. Republicans began and are best as a reform party.
Time for Sen. McCain and the Republicans to remember what had made them the majority party. It is not choking, drunken, womanizing, bribe-takers. It is men and women who have a vision for the United States that is a reforming vision.
